1st grade winter city collage

1st Grade Winter City Collage
Here is another idea I found on Pinterest by

Blanka Weisgärberová LakomáMy version is different but I wanted to give her credit.

Part one of my demonstration video.

Part two of my demonstration video.

On the first day we looked at various photos of winter skies and a photo of the Great Northern Lights. Students could paint the sky any colors they liked but they had to be the cool colors. I provided blue, white, purple and green tempera paint for students to mix on their papers.

On the second day students drew a village or city on a 18" x 6" piece of paper, traced it with a black permanent marker and glued it to the bottom of their sky. This took around two classes (50 minutes each).

Lastly, students used Tacky glue to glue plastic snowflakes on the sky. I purchased these on Amazon. They were encouraged to draw additional snowflakes or dots of snow with an oil pastel around them.

 Beautiful results!!!
