Monroe Primary School 2018 art show

Art Show April 2018
Wow! Time has flown this year. I had a great turn out for my art show. This year I had it for two hours, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. It was packed!
Thank  goodness I can rely on parents helping me hang the art up. My principal is very supportive and gets me a sub for the day so I can focus on getting it ready.

Thanks volunteers!!!

Here are my photo props.

art show 2017

Art Show 2017

Don't you love my tie dyed lab coat?  I had a lot more parent volunteers helping me this year. It really helped  asking the teachers to ask for volunteers through e-mails and their weekly newsletters.
I recommend having tables to put the tape on the art. Last year I did it on the floor and my back was killing me!
My volunteers!

I used screens purchased from Screenflex. They work better if you staple the art while the screens are folded. It keeps them more stable while  you push the staples in.

This year I  drew picture frames on paper so children could draw on them. I found this idea on Pinterest which was pinned to Thomas Elementary.

My daughter helps train dogs for Four Paws, so she brought this little fellow for the kids to pet.

Every year the principal and superintendent pick art to hang in their buildings. These were the winners.

We have the art professionally framed. It's a great honor for these students that my school has been doing for years.

Until next year's art show!

Art show Monroe Primary 2016

Monroe Primary Art Show 2016
What an exhausting day! I started at 8:00 am and ended at 5:30 pm with parent volunteers, my principal and a couple teachers helping hang art. The art show started at 6:00 so we finished just in time! Next year I hope to recruit (beg) for more help. I did have a sub for my classes so I could get the show ready (thanks also to the gym teacher for giving up his gym!). Each student had at least two pieces of art in the show. We had a great turn out.

We had some photo cut outs for kids to pose in. They loved these!
