Mr. Seahorse art project for kindergarten

Mr. Seahorse art lesson for kindergarten

                                                              Here is my demonstration video.

I  played a YouTube video of Paul Ryker  reading the book "Mr. Seahorse" by Eric Carle. I  stopped the video periodically to discuss the illustrations and talk about the story.
I found a great tutorial on how to teach the little ones how to draw the seahorse.

This was taught at the end of the  year so they caught on pretty quickly.
The next step was to trace the seahorse with a black crayon.
Students then colored the sea horse with crayons and drew wavy  lines with a white crayon for the water.

The last step was to paint the whole thing with blue watercolors. I used diluted liquid watercolors.

Primary school rock garden

Monroe Primary School Rock Garden
She actually got the idea from the art teacher Jessica Moyes from Sharon Elementary in Indiana.
I had to create mine a little differently since my school only consist of preschool through 1st grade.
A local landscape company donated the rocks for us.
I read the book "Only One You" by Linda Kranz. She has beautiful illustrations of rocks she painted to look like fish. Thanks to our PTO for buying the book and paint for us!

Students then drew details on their rocks with a fine tipped permanent marker. They used Blickrylic acrylic paint to paint them.

When they were dry I sprayed all of them with Krylon low odor clear finish.

I painted these signs to go along with the rock garden.

Again this was not my idea. Thanks for Pinterest!!!

Monroe Primary School 2018 art show

Art Show April 2018
Wow! Time has flown this year. I had a great turn out for my art show. This year I had it for two hours, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. It was packed!
Thank  goodness I can rely on parents helping me hang the art up. My principal is very supportive and gets me a sub for the day so I can focus on getting it ready.

Thanks volunteers!!!

Here are my photo props.
