Jasper Johns printmaking for kindergarten art

Jasper Johns Printmaking
Kindergarten art lessons can be a challenge. This lesson introduces a lot of techniques perfect for this age.
On the first day I discussed warm and cool colors. Students then painted their 12" x 18" multi-media paper with tempera paint . We used only the warm colors. The last step was to  scrape various lines in the paint with paint combs.

Students loved this!
On the second day, students stamped letters all over their paintings.
I used sponges soaked with black paint to make it easier for stamping.

Here is a great lesson for a sub created by Cassie Stephens. When I was out for two weeks with laryngitis I needed to come up with  a lesson that wasn't boring for the kids but easy for a sub to teach. Thanks to Cassie's video on line, she taught the lesson for the sub. Here is the link to her lesson https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=469&v=CnQuadGUOR4
Students loved learning how to make 3-D houses. They first drew some with pencils and then when they got the hang of it they drew the rest with sharpies, colored them in with neon oil pastels and then painted over the houses with watercolors.

This is one of the kids favorite lessons!
This is my demonstration video.
